VIDEO: The Only Highway Connecting Armenia to Russia Closed Due to Flooding
The Stefantsminda-Lars highway is closed to all types of vehicles, as reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
According to Georgian media, the road closure is related to weather conditions.
The Terek River has overflowed due to heavy rains, inundating the highway between Georgia and Russia.
It has been noted that the road was damaged at the 136th kilometer of the Mtskheta-Stefantsminda-Lars international highway (neutral zone).
Transportation in that section is prohibited until appropriate measures are taken.
It is important to note that the Mtskheta-Stefantsminda-Lars highway, also known as the Georgian Military Road, is currently the only overland route connecting Georgia and Armenia with Russia.
