Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Kazakhstan Sign Declaration Addressing the 'Zangezur Corridor'
The first trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers and transport ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Kazakhstan has taken place in Baku. During the opening of the event, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the significance of the trilateral meeting, emphasizing the importance of trilateral and regional cooperation, according to Azerbaijani news outlets.
Bayramov noted that the meeting is being held on the basis of mutually beneficial relations to coordinate and strengthen regional connections on issues of interest to the three countries.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister stated that within the framework of cooperation, it is planned to expand the possibilities of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) corridor. "We discussed the new realities that have emerged after the 'liberation of Azerbaijani territories from Armenian occupation.' The 'Zangezur Corridor' (the quotation marks are Tert.am's) plays a special role in establishing a route towards EU countries, Turkey, and Asia," Bayramov said.
As a result of the meeting, a joint declaration was signed in Baku. The Baku declaration was signed by the ministers responsible for foreign affairs and transport from Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Kazakhstan.
"A framework for cooperation has been established between our countries. Today, we signed the trilateral cooperation declaration for the first time. We consider cooperation in the field of transport to be very important and promising. The Baku declaration signed today will play a significant role in expanding all these initiatives and in the establishment of the relevant working group," Bayramov added.
