Sofia Hovsepyan: 'How would a citizen live if the farmer didn't toil day in and day out in the village?'

The easiest thing is to complain about the farmer. How would a citizen live if the farmer didn't toil day in and day out in the village? This was stated by former MP Sofia Hovsepyan on her Facebook page.

“Under a post by one of my friends, where they are selling apricots, city dwellers have written to consider the citizen a bit more. Dear friends, they have considered it; that’s why they live in the village, while you live in the city. They have thought about it, that’s why they continue to cultivate the land and bring it to you, that’s why they offer their harvest to you and not export everything, leaving you at the mercy of Turkish and Persian fruits...

I can list how much the farmer thinks about you. A year ago, the farmer decided to think about himself and starting in September, along with the harvest, sold the main crop of potatoes at quite a high price to the Georgians and others, closed some of his loans, paid off the debts from the year’s accumulated agricultural work, bought certain winter supplies, and barely made ends meet. As a result, you bought very expensive potatoes, you started to complain, your debts increased, and you are still complaining.

Isn't it better to buy from the farmer at today’s average price than to buy at an inflated price tomorrow from some imported fruit of unknown origin? Think a little about the farmer… You can go to the village, help the farmer during the harvest season, and I am sure that the amount you would have to pay the gatherer, instead, the farmer will give you boxes of apricots. You will both benefit, and the farmer will feel appreciated because you reached out to him,” she wrote.
