Relatives of Those Killed in Aparan Demand That Perpetrators of Violence Not Step Foot in the City

On June 19, relatives of the young men killed at the Nighavan intersection held a protest demanding a fair trial. Gathered in front of the Aparan municipality, the victims' families also insisted that the perpetrators of the violence be barred from entering Aparan, so that the residents can live in peace.

“One soul cannot do such a thing. Roman Parvanyan, the son of the uncle of the Deputy Governor of Aragatsotn, orchestrated the entrance of an armed group into Aparan to carry out this bloodshed. After all, to orchestrate means to participate,” said Abraham Mikaelyan, the uncle of the slain Hamik Mikaelyan, referencing the testimony of one of the injured.

Another uncle of Hamik Mikaelyan noted that the dispute lasted three days and the injured young men had no political affiliations. According to him, after arguing at the gas station, the participants of the incident met at the Nighavan landfill and resumed their argument. He expressed confusion as to why the police did not attempt to prevent the violence throughout this entire time, being aware of everything.

The inaction of the police has raised questions for many.
