The Ruling Party Prepares for an Extraordinary Session: 'Hraparak'
'Hraparak' newspaper reports: 'During the extraordinary session of the National Assembly on July 27, vacant positions in the Court of Cassation will be filled. The Supreme Judicial Council has nominated three candidates for each of the ten positions. The ruling party will not select Arman Sarkissian's party member Artak Zeynalanyan among the three candidates competing for one position on the administrative chamber of the Cassation Court, but rather Liana Hakobyan. She is the judge who returned the administrative complaint of the former Chief of the Armed Forces, Onik Gasparyan, against Armen Sarkissian and Nikol Pashinyan. Gasparyan demanded that the order for his dismissal be declared invalid, but the judge suggested either changing the demand or appealing her decision in the appellate court. Subsequently, the appellate court accepted the appeal and deemed Judge Liana Hakobyan's conclusion unfounded.
Incidentally, CP member Arthur Davtyan is also nominated. During last night's CP faction meeting, the MPs were informed about whom to choose. It is possible that the agenda of the extraordinary session will also include a controversial amendment package to the 'Law on Defense' and other projects. With this, the extraordinary sessions do not conclude; it is not excluded that two more extraordinary sessions will be convened in early July.'
