Fines for Littering to be Toughened, Says Mayor

I would like to inform that alongside the cleaning works of the Yerevan Lake, a trash collection network has been installed on the lake, which allows for the removal of solid waste. More nets will be installed soon. This was announced by Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan.

“I ask and urge everyone to be responsible for the cleanliness of our environment and to dispose of waste only in designated areas,” he stated.

Sargsyan also noted that the address related to a viral video widely circulated on the internet has been identified, and a report has been drawn up against the citizen who disposed of household waste into a nearby water drain.

“At this moment, I am initiating legislative changes that will increase penalties for littering in non-designated areas,” he mentioned.
