Russia Bans Import of 530.6 Tons of Fruits and Vegetables from Azerbaijan
The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) announced that, starting from early June, the import of 530.6 tons of agricultural products from Azerbaijan has been prohibited.
Specifically, Russia has disallowed the import of 320.9 tons of fresh tomatoes, 99.8 tons of potatoes, and 109.9 tons of cherries from Azerbaijan. The press service clarified that the reason for this import ban was the detection of South American tomato moth (Tuta absoluta Povolny), potato tuber moth (Phthorimaea operculella (Zeller)), and the oriental fruit moth (Grapholita molesta).
Experts have decided that the affected agricultural products will be returned to the exporting countries.
