Urgent: Artur Vanetsyan Submits Resignation of Parliamentary Mandate

Artur Vanetsyan's statement. This was announced on his Facebook page by Sos Hakobyan, press secretary of the "Homeland" party.

Dear compatriots,

Today I have officially submitted my request to resign from my parliamentary mandate. For many of you, this decision of mine is not a surprise; I have publicly stated several times that I no longer see myself in this parliament. The reason is evident: the citizens of Armenia entrusted us with the mission to halt the destructive activities of this government and to bring the country out of disaster. However, in my opinion, this parliament has ceased to be an effective platform to achieve our goals.

The Leadership of the "Homeland" party has decided to continue its activities outside of parliament. As a result of our party's decision, the "Honorary" alliance we formed with the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) effectively ceases to exist both de jure and de facto, through which we traveled a relatively short but rich path, and I am confident that we will continue to do so for the sake of saving the country, and in the future, for the revitalization and strengthening of our statehood.

I would like to thank our partners from the "Honorary" and "Armenia" factions for the journey we have taken together and our collaborative efforts.

I want to assure you that my decision to resign my mandate and the "Homeland" party's decision to continue the struggle outside of parliament are entirely our choices and cannot serve as constraints or guiding factors for our colleagues in the "Honorary" faction, including our non-partisan friends who have entered the National Assembly under the banner of the "Homeland" party. In this matter, each individual must make their conscious and justified choice.

Dear compatriots,

The motives for participating in the snap elections of 2021 and subsequently acquiring a parliamentary mandate were very clear. I have always stated that we will do everything in our power to bring harmony to our country, to have a secure Armenia and Artsakh, and to significantly improve the quality of life for our citizens.

Of course, there will be plenty of time to reflect on all these and my eleven months of parliamentary activities. The parliamentary mandate has never been an end in itself for me; it was merely a tool to serve our country and state. A tool that is no longer applicable for me today.

Today we stand at the brink of losing our homeland, and we no longer have the right to make mistakes. The struggle has no alternative, and as I have often mentioned, today, for the sake of the Armenian people, Armenia and Artsakh, there are no party flags, dividing lines, or statuses. This is our national struggle, and we members of the "Homeland" party will continue it together with our people.
