Germany's Economic Situation Could Deteriorate
Germany's Vice Chancellor, Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Protection Robert Habeck has admitted that the country's economic situation could worsen, against the backdrop of changes in the energy sector, potentially even more than during the coronavirus pandemic. This was reported by РИА Новости.
The politician spoke about an "ambitious plan" that involves the return of coal-fired power plants in the event of an energy crisis. However, he noted that "there are no guarantees that this will happen."
Habeck also emphasized that gas storage facilities are almost 60 percent full. He mentioned that if Germany's storage spaces are only half full during the winter and if "the gas valve is kept closed," the country could face a severe economic crisis.
