Vahagn Khachaturyan Announces Conditions for Talking with the Opposition
I am open to any conversation if we need to listen to each other. But I have one condition: if it occurs in a civilized manner, with a proper vocabulary, in Armenian, and the rhetoric must be appropriate. I will not try to educate anyone; we are no longer of that age.
This was stated by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan during a broadcast on Public Television, responding to a question about meeting with representatives of the opposition.
“There are written and unwritten rules in politics that exist in the moral sphere. I am ready for a conversation right now, but from the very first day, the parliamentary opposition has refused dialogue, and the situation is still the same. I am ready to invite them, to listen to their perspectives, but they do not wish to engage. The vocabulary used has been prevalent on the streets for a month and a half, and for me, it is unacceptable,” he added.
