Azerbaijani Official Discusses Forcefully Opening the 'Zangezur Corridor' and Exporting Electricity Through It: Expert
Energy security expert Vahe Davtyan wrote on his Facebook page: “The Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan has talked about the prospects of exporting electricity to Europe through the 'Zangezur Corridor,' again threatening to forcibly open this route if Armenia backs away from the agreements made.
This scenario would mean that Armenia would not only serve as a transit country for Azerbaijani electricity but also, in the future, as an importer and consumer. All prerequisites for this have already been created by Armenia. Since February of this year, as we know, the Armenian electricity market has been liberalized, which means that licensed trading companies can also import electricity from external markets.”
