If Something Happens to Me, My Family Members, or Relatives. Vardazaryan to the Investigative Body

The Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, Ruben Vardazaryan (his powers are suspended), announced that the original of the scandalous recording published today, as well as the recording device, is neither at his home nor at his summer house. Moreover, it is not kept in the country, hence there is no need to search for it in his house.

“Publicizing this recording has probably been the most difficult decision of my entire life. The recording was made on February 20, 2021. I have not published this recording for a year and a half, simply because I was hoping the Supreme Judicial Council would be reasonable enough not to resort to extreme measures. I did not want this recording to be made public. However, the cynicism displayed during the meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council allowed me to confidently decide that this must be published. And I warn the investigative bodies that this recording was made at my request; I was well aware that I was going to a meeting and had asked for our conversation with Jhangiryan to be recorded,” Vardazaryan stated.

Vardazaryan also added: “The original of the recording and the recording device are not in the Republic of Armenia, are not at our home, and are not at the summer house. Initiating a criminal case and searching for the recording device under that pretext will yield no results. And if something happens to me, my family members, or relatives—such as an accident, hit and run—I am confident you will find those responsible.”
