Abrahamyan: A Constant Reminder to Displaced Artsakh Residents of Social Aid Is Unacceptable

Member of the "Honorary" Alliance, Tigran Abrahamyan, wrote on his Facebook page:

“The leader of the ruling party recently stated again that the budget of Artsakh during the post-war period was at its historically highest. This is said by someone whose disgraceful political policies have led to 75 percent of the Republic of Artsakh being occupied or surrendered to Azerbaijan. This is said by someone who has initiated that recruitment from Armenia to Artsakh is no longer taking place. This is said by a person who has managed to confuse Armenians living in Artsakh, Armenia, and the Diaspora into believing that we are entering a peaceful era. Now they say that peace does not only depend on us, and there is a significant threat to our destruction.

Moreover, it is inappropriate to speak of social assistance allocated to Artsakh from both a political and a moral standpoint, especially given that 35-40 thousand people have been deprived of their homes, land, and water; the economy and infrastructure of Artsakh have received significant blows. In this case, the mission of any government in Armenia should be to protect and assist its compatriots.

I will discuss these allocations and their effectiveness on another occasion. Have you ever heard any former leader of the Republic of Armenia speaking almost monthly about budgetary allocations for Artsakh or additional programs? Of course not. Because that was natural and a standard phenomenon for everyone.

The continuous reminder to a displaced Artsakh resident that they have no home, have lost loved ones, but hey, we are providing you with social assistance, is far from all moral, humanitarian, and logical norms. It is good that they do not say that the large-scale loss of equipment during the war and the optimization of military units result from the reforms being implemented in the army.

I continue to assert that before the political crisis in Armenia, there is primarily a moral crisis, and overcoming the political crisis will be very challenging without addressing this.”
