If They Decide Not to Summon Pashinyan for Questioning, 'Other Things Will Happen', Say Parents of Fallen Soldiers

The parents of fallen soldiers camped overnight in Liberty Square. They have moved their tents from France Square. Vigen Azatyan, father of the fallen soldier Arman Azatyan, stated in an interview with Sputnik Armenia that they initially protested in Liberty Square, but as the movement began, the parents thought it best to move to France Square to avoid dividing the public.

“We simply relocated to France Square to avoid joining any political force. We are with our boys. Following the opposition's decision yesterday, we decided to return to our original location,” said Azatyan.

He reminded that the parents are demanding the initiation of a criminal case against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and they want him questioned, not by the investigative body, but by the NSS (National Security Service). Tomorrow marks the deadline set by the parents for this demand.

According to Azatyan, the ongoing judicial proceedings and their nature do not satisfy the parents. “Everything is so clear and straightforward; this nonsense has to stop. Despite everything, Pashinyan enjoys his life, while what about us? Those who want to befriend the Turks right now should pause and envision what they would do if they had been kissing their son's picture for 1 year and 9 months. We are ready for anything,” he stated.

Parents gathered in Georgia have expressed their intention to stay as long as necessary. They have a sequential plan of actions but are not disclosing details at this moment. According to the parents, much depends on tomorrow, and if no decision is made to summon Pashinyan for questioning at the NSS, “other things will happen.”

When asked about their health being a concern for staying overnight in tents, the parents stated that this is the least of their worries: “If even one of us remains healthy, we will push our cause to the end.”

It is recalled that the parents of fallen soldiers are demanding that a criminal case be filed against Nikol Pashinyan concerning the war instigated by Azerbaijan in 2020, that he be summoned for questioning, and that he be arrested. The Prosecutor's Office sent the case to the Criminal Court via the Anti-Corruption Committee. Ardzvik Minasyan and lawyer Hakob Martirosyan from the “Armenia” alliance have filed a complaint with the Court of Appeals against the decision not to initiate a criminal case against Nikol Pashinyan.
