27-Year-Old Arrested on Suspicion of Stealing 4.4 Million Drams from Currency Exchange Point
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has revealed a case of robbery against an employee of a currency exchange point, following a comprehensive investigation conducted by the Avan and Nor Nork investigative division of the Yerevan city investigative department, in accordance with Article 175, Part 3, Clause 1 and Article 235, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.
It was previously reported that on June 12, 2022, around 22:50, a masked individual, armed with a grenade, entered the currency exchange point located in a shopping center with the intent to steal particularly large amounts of property. The assailant pulled the grenade pin and, threatening to use violence that endangered the life and health of the employee, stole 4,400,000 AMD in cash available at the exchange point before fleeing the scene.
During the investigation, necessary investigative and procedural actions were conducted along with operational-search measures, resulting in the identification of the individual suspected of committing this crime, who is a 27-year-old resident of Yerevan. He has since been arrested on suspicion of the aforementioned crime. The investigation is ongoing.
Notification: The suspect in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia by a legally binding court decision.
