Details Revealed About the Reopening of Armenian-Azerbaijani Routes

Five days after Lavrov's announcement regarding the "simplified regime" connecting Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan, it is still unclear what this means officially. However, some information has emerged from ongoing negotiations, as reported by Azatutyun.am.

According to the reports, the Russian border guard service will first check Azerbaijani goods and passengers entering Armenian territory, followed by the Armenian customs service. Subsequently, crossing will occur under the escort of an Armenian special guard unit, which will include at least one Russian officer.

Whether the same conditions will apply to Armenian passengers and goods entering Azerbaijani territory is still under negotiation, according to the same sources. Journalist Tatul Hakobian has also recently reported that Baku has set the demand for a Russian mediator.

Official Moscow and Yerevan published differing information about ten days ago following the meeting in Moscow between Deputy Prime Ministers Overchuk, Grigoryan, and Mustafaev. According to the Russian government, the parties have aligned their approaches regarding border, customs, and other types of control for road and railway routes. Meanwhile, the Armenian government's statement indicated that the parties clarified their approaches. However, what these approaches are has not been officially disclosed to this day.
