Your Wallet: New Asphalt Contracts for Alen Simonian's Brother
The victories of the asphalt company "Euroasfalt," led by Alen Simonian’s brother, Karlen Simonian, in state procurement competitions continue. This was reported by civilnet.am.
The two-year-old asphalt laying company is already winning larger competitions, with a total contract value exceeding 2.5 billion drams.
According to the news outlet, "Euroasfalt" has won tenders organized by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure for road renovation works. Although they were announced last year in 2021, the final agreements were signed this year in 2022.
Under one contract, the company is conducting renovation works on certain sections of the Horum-Artik-Alagyaz republican road. The value of this contract is over 1 billion 45 million drams or about 2.3 million dollars. There were six participants in this procurement competition. "Euroasfalt" won by presenting an offer that was just 500,000 drams less. This means that among six participants, "Euroasfalt" won with only a 0.05 percent price reduction.
The article also notes that under another contract, the company is renovating certain sections of the Ayntap-Mkhchyan-Artashat-Aigavan republican road. The value of this contract is about 1.7 billion drams or more than 3.7 million dollars. There were six participants in this competition as well. "Euroasfalt" surpassed "Leopold and Co," owned by the second president Robert Kocharyan's kin, again with a proposal that was just 500,000 drams or 0.03 percent lower.
On June 11, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited and familiarized himself with the renovation works of the Mkhchyan-Artashat-Aigavan republican road and the Yeghenavan-Aigavan roads. Karlen Simonian was also present there.
To participate in the public procurement competition, "Euroasfalt," through its director Karlen Simonian, submitted information about the real beneficiaries, claiming that the shareholders of the company are two women — Svetlana Kamo Poghosyan and Greta Sargsi Tadevosyan — and he himself is the CEO.
The news outlet summarizes that during the last nearly two years, "Euroasfalt" has received orders worth over 3.6 billion drams or about 7.5 million dollars from state bodies.
