Growing Hostility Towards Russians in Azerbaijan: Tigran Abrahamyan

Amid the backdrop of the Russia-Ukraine crisis, the activity of Azerbaijani websites and Telegram channels has become more prevalent than anti-Russian propaganda. This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, a deputy from the 'Honorary Duty' faction, on his Facebook page.

'Especially when you consider the ownership of these platforms or their direct subordination to various state structures or representatives of the ruling elite, the picture becomes clearer. The hatred towards Russian servicemen, the sarcasm regarding the killed, wounded, and captured servicemen, cynicism, and offensive expressions indicate that a significant level of hostility towards Russians is being generated within Azerbaijan.'

Abrahamyan noted, 'It is clear that the Russian side is recording all of this, but it is still unclear when Russian countermeasures will be implemented. We still need to understand and analyze how these and other phenomena will affect Russian-Azerbaijani relations after the Russia-Ukraine crisis. This is important for Armenia considering the allied relations with the Russian Federation, as well as Russia's key role in the processes concerning Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Artsakh.'

'In any case, any development in Russian-Azerbaijani relations will have its impact on our region,' Abrahamyan wrote.
