Prosecutor Received a Bribe of 2,500,000 Dram
The National Security Service of Armenia, in cooperation with the Prosecutor General's Office, has obtained substantial evidence regarding an incident involving K.N., the deputy prosecutor of the Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan. As a public official, K.N. allegedly used his position to assist N.D., an individual accused in a criminal case being heard by the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Ararat Province, by facilitating a lenient sentence. During this process, with the help of G.G. and N.A., K.N. received a bribe totaling 2,500,000 Armenian drams from N.D.
Based on a decision made on June 8, 2022, by the acting Prosecutor General, a criminal case was initiated under Article 311, Part 4, Clause 2, Article 312, Part 3, Clause 1, and Article 313, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The case was forwarded for further investigation to the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia.
On June 9, 2022, the acting Prosecutor General made a decision to involve K.N. as a suspect under Article 311, Part 4, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code, sending the resolution to the investigating officer for the formulation of charges. Following the investigator's decisions regarding the arrest, K.N. and other individuals suspected of committing the alleged crime were taken into custody by agents of the National Security Service of Armenia.
