Lavrov Declares Need for Establishment of Biodefense Council Within CSTO Framework

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced the necessity of quickly launching the work of a coordinating council on biological security within the framework of the CSTO. He made this statement on Friday, June 10, during a meeting of the foreign ministers of the CSTO member states.

“Lavrov emphasized the urgency of starting work on the coordinating council established for biological security issues within the CSTO,” reads the official statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry. The Russian initiative proposed a list of practical measures aimed at expanding cooperation between the CSTO, the CIS, and the SCO.

Earlier, the Pentagon stated that the United States had been “peacefully cooperating” with 46 biological organizations in Ukraine for 20 years. At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Pentagon may test biological weapons on Ukrainian soldiers.
