Office of Zelensky Reports Nearly 60% of Zaporizhzhia Region Under Russian Control

As of June 2022, almost 60% of the Zaporizhzhia region is occupied by Russian forces.

According to a statement released on the president's official website, the head of the regional administration, Oleksandr Starukh, reported to President Volodymyr Zelensky that nearly 60% of the territory of the region has been temporarily occupied by Russian troops, and fighting continues in some areas.

He noted that 77 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region are without electricity due to military operations. The adversary has destroyed 2,701 infrastructure facilities, of which almost 700 have been restored to date.

Meanwhile, humanitarian centers have been established in the regional center to accommodate residents from temporarily occupied areas and settlements where military operations are ongoing. “In the last 15 days, the largest number of people has arrived from the Kherson region, and arrivals are also coming in from Mariupol,” Starukh added.
