“For us, it is a luxury to compete in the B subgroup”: Caparros on the Armenian national football team

The head coach of the Armenian national football team, Joaquin Caparros, believes that the players of the national team are motivated ahead of the match against Ireland.

“The players have gained a lot of confidence since we moved up from the C subgroup to the B subgroup. We understand the challenges that exist in this group. We believe in our strengths. We will try to show a good performance in the upcoming match. We are playing at a high level of football,” Caparros said during a press conference.

According to Caparros, the Armenian team is motivated because the players are dedicated to their country and have high expectations for the match against Ireland.

“The Irish national team is strong. They have players who compete in Premier League clubs. We respect them, but we also have our own football virtues. Against Ireland, we need to play intelligently and as a team. It is a luxury for us to compete in the B subgroup. As for enthusiasm, we are not inferior to anyone,” he noted.

The Spanish coach also addressed his potential resignation, stating that in Spain’s football world, contracts are respected, and he will not leave before the contract’s expiration.

The Armenia-Ireland match will take place on June 4 at 17:00 in Yerevan, as part of the first round of the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League B group.
