Israel Rejects US Request to Allow Berlin to Supply Anti-Tank Missiles to Ukraine
Israel has rejected a request from the United States to allow Berlin to supply anti-tank missiles to Ukraine. The request involved Spike missiles, which are manufactured in Germany using Israeli technology and licensing. This was reported by Axios, citing representatives from the US and Israel.
The Director General of Israel's Ministry of Defense, Amir Eshel, and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl have been negotiating in Washington. Kahl inquired whether Tel Aviv would grant Germany permission to transfer anti-tank missiles to Ukraine, to which he received a negative response.
Eshel explained that Israel would only supply Kyiv with non-lethal military equipment. Israeli authorities are concerned that Russian soldiers could be killed with weapons produced in their country, which could lead to Russia retaliating against Israeli interests in Syria.
