How Long Will the Protests Continue: Seyran Ohanyan Responds to Citizen
There is a rally of the opposition taking place at France Square. Public pressure is the only means through which we can achieve success, stated former Minister of Defense of Armenia and head of the ‘Armenia’ faction in the National Assembly, Seyran Ohanyan, responding to a question from one of the citizens about how long the protests will continue and what practical steps should be taken to bring the struggle to its conclusion.
Ohanyan noted that public pressure has intensified since the beginning of the struggle, and more and more citizens have joined the ‘Resistance’ movement. They will continue this way until they reach their goal. “In this regard, we have reached a line where we have mobilized our main strength, and we must demonstrate determination so that we have a larger grouping around us, and our resistance can advance with greater force,” he said.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, MP from the ‘Armenia’ faction and one of the organizers of the ‘Resistance’ movement, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, also addressed the question. He mentioned that if it were not for the widespread public uprising, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan would have made even greater concessions during this period. “We have significant achievements during this time, that is evident. At a minimum, we have disrupted the timeline that Pashinyan was preparing to use to hand over Artsakh, including some territories of Armenia. What should we do? The formula is clear and straightforward: maintain the pace, increase the pressure,” Saghatelyan stated.
He also assured that if the struggle continues at this pace, they will achieve success, and the process of holding all those responsible accountable is ahead. “The option that Nikol is suggesting, ‘my dear people, if I am wrong, shoot me against the wall,’ that phrase he keeps repeating, we do not live in jungles; we will not shoot anyone against the wall. But those who have acted treacherously will answer before the court, rest assured,” the opposition MP declared.
