Arrest Made in Case of Drug Dealing Related to Participant's Death at Protest

The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting investigative and procedural actions to clarify the circumstances surrounding the sale of drugs to Arthur Andranik Sedrakyan, a participant in the political opposition gathering in France Square, Yerevan. This was reported by the Committee.

As part of the investigation, aimed at identifying individuals selling drugs to A. Sedrakyan and other protest participants in France Square, joint operations were carried out with the National Security Service and the Investigative Department of the Police, along with relevant territorial subdivisions. A total of 39 apartments and 4 vehicles were searched, resulting in the discovery of firearms, spare parts, ammunition, marijuana, hashish, cannabis seeds and plants. Additionally, 475 grams of methamphetamine, 950 grams of marijuana, 1055 grams of opium, and 72.8 grams of heroin were found in the spare tire compartment of a vehicle belonging to citizen A.V., who has since been arrested.

It is important to note that during the opposition-organized protests at France Square, on May 5, 2022, at 12:55 PM, it was determined that Arthur Andranik Sedrakyan's death was caused by acute heart failure due to a mixture of natural and synthetic cannabinoids (DELTA-9-THC, JWH-018, JWH-203, RCS-8, Cannabipiperidethanone) and various compounds belonging to benzodiazepines (2H-1, 4-Benzodiazepin-2-one, 7-Chloro-2-menthylthio-5-phenyl-3H-1,3-4-benzotriazepine). The death resulted from acute poisoning. The pre-investigation is ongoing.
