Yerevan Responds to Aliyev's Statement on Creating a Corridor Through Armenian Territory
In response to a question from Armpress, Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan stated that a corridor or transport route based on a corridor logic cannot operate within Armenian territory.
Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev announced during a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that on May 22, an agreement was reached in Brussels about creating a corridor through Armenian territory, including the construction of rail and automobile roads.
When asked to comment on this statement, Grigoryan reiterated that the Republic of Armenia's positions have not changed. He emphasized that any corridor logic cannot be applied within Armenia. All agreements reached in Brussels pertain to the opening of regional communications, which he also discussed yesterday, in response to your questions.
The agreements reached in Brussels fit within the framework of previous public statements made by representatives of the Republic of Armenia. Additionally, you can see in the statement of the President of the European Council, following the meeting, that the agreements related to the opening of regional communications addressed issues of border and customs control, collection of road fees, and organization of international transit.
These are important issues for the implementation of the "Armenian Crossroad" project, and the Armenian government will consistently move in this direction.
