Shoigu Explains Why Attack Pace Is Being Slowed
The Russian armed forces are slowing the pace of their attacks in Ukraine. This is being done to allow all civilians to evacuate from surrounded settlements. This was announced by the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Army General Sergei Shoigu, during a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), as reported by life.ru.
“In order for residents to leave surrounded settlements, silence regimes are declared and humanitarian corridors are created. Of course, this slows down the pace of the offensive, but it is done intentionally to avoid civilian casualties,” said Shoigu.
He emphasized that the Russian army, unlike the Ukrainian forces, does not target civilian infrastructure where civilians might be present. High-precision weapons are used to destroy the firing positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and military facilities.
During the meeting, the minister also stressed that Russia intends to continue its special operation until the complete fulfillment of its tasks, despite the pressure from Western countries.
