Putin Had Cancer, American Director Reveals Details

American filmmaker Oliver Stone revealed on Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin was battling cancer during the period when the Oscar-winning director was filming a documentary about him.

Stone made this statement during an interview on journalist Lex Fridman's podcast, as reported by Newsweek.

In response to a question about whether the decision to invade Ukraine was madness or a strategic calculation, Stone noted, "I can't give you a definitive answer. First, we don't know what he was told, whether the intelligence gave him accurate assessments, perhaps he was not well informed about the degree of collaboration of Russians living in Ukraine. This could have been one of the factors by which he miscalculated the consequences of the war."

"And don't forget that Putin had cancer, and I believe he has overcome it. Additionally, he was isolated during the pandemic... He could have been cut off from reality. But I'm making assumptions; I don't know for sure. Maybe he thought that (invading Ukraine) would be a quick solution," Stone added.

It is known that Stone met with Putin in 2015, and in 2017, his documentary film "Interview with Putin" was released, which consists of four episodes. In these episodes, they discuss the history of Russian-American relations as well as the situations in Syria and Ukraine.
