Azerbaijani Athletes Attempted Psychological Pressure, But It Failed: Adamyan
During the European Arm Wrestling Championship held in Bucharest, multiple European champion and international master of sports Ashot Adamyan reported that Turkish and Azerbaijani competitors attempted to exert psychological pressure on him. Adamyan made this statement during a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, according to the Assembly's website.
According to Adamyan, the behavior of the Turkish and Azerbaijani athletes did not distract him. As the champion humorously noted, he simply did not understand the language of his opponents.
The athlete also mentioned that throughout his sporting career, he has competed in the 60 kg weight category, and this was the first time he participated in a competition at an increased weight of 65 kg. In response to Simonyan's remark about whether this is his final weight, the young athlete smiled and said that everything is ahead, adding that he does not want to gain weight.
Alen Simonyan expressed curiosity about the European Championship when the incident involving the Azerbaijani athlete who finished third and attempted to appear taller by standing on his toes did not go unnoticed by sports fans, overshadowing the victory of European champion Ashot Adamyan. The latter informed the National Assembly Speaker that he did not notice the behavior of that athlete at the time because he was focused on his music and victory.
It was reported that Ashot Adamyan, representing Armenia at the ongoing European Arm Wrestling Championship in Bucharest, has won a gold medal. The Armenian athlete defeated Azerbaijani Ismayil Mustafayev in the final of the 65 kg weight category, becoming a European champion for the eighth time.
