“We will take revenge for the life of our hero”: Raisi on the killing of Iranian colonel

“The assassination of a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that took place on Sunday will not go unanswered,” Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stated today.

“I affirm that our security forces will conduct the most serious investigation. There should be no doubt that we will take revenge for the life of our hero,” Raisi declared.

The assassination of Colonel Sayad Khodai occurred on Sunday, May 23, near his home in eastern Tehran. The unidentified assailant shot the Iranian colonel five times.

In the report about Khodai's assassination, Iranian state television referred to him as a “defender of sacred sites.” Typically, this title is given to Iranian forces who have participated in military operations in Syria and Iraq as part of the elite Quds Force.
