Peskov: Poland's Stance on Russia Reaching Madness

“Poland's stance towards Russia is reaching madness, therefore the further situation regarding the transit of Russian gas through the Yamal-Europe pipeline is unlikely to be predictable,” stated Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, according to RIA Novosti.

Poland has decided to terminate its contract for the supply of Russian gas ahead of schedule. According to the contract, which is in force until the end of 2022, Poland can receive up to 10 million cubic meters of gas annually from Russia. The country's authorities have decided not to extend the agreement.

On April 27, Gazprom halted gas exports to Bulgaria’s Bulgargaz and Poland’s PGNiG companies due to their refusal to pay for gas in Russian rubles.

Peskov noted that it is now unlikely that any contractual relations could be discussed since Poland has “long ago refused to pay for the gas,” yet continues to indirectly receive it by “buying it from others according to the known schemes of bypass routes.”
