Media Outlets Call COVID-19 Fight a Corruption Pyramid: Arsen Torosyan
Yesterday evening, one of Armenia TV's programs addressed the government's COVID-19 response plan, labeling it a "corruption pyramid." In response to this topic, MP Arsen Torosyan made a post on his Facebook page:
"Of course, it's understandable how this media outlet thinks, given that their former (or maybe current) owners seized every opportunity during national disasters or crises to create corruption pyramids and enrich themselves on these issues. It is probably difficult for them to imagine that the government can spend billions of drams on acquiring equipment and medicines, rewarding thousands of healthcare workers, and renovating medical institutions to save thousands of lives, including those of this media outlet's personnel and their relatives. After all, it would have been much easier to leave that burden on the patients, not saving them from imminent death, and using that money to make other gains through their own companies.
I have addressed the Audit Chamber's audit; it was conducted based on incomplete information that was not properly provided by the competent authority, and I would only be pleased if the investigation answers all questions,” he wrote.
