VIDEO: Truck collides with checkpoint and waiting vehicles at Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan border, fatalities reported

A large truck transporting an excavator lost control and collided with the "Chechme" checkpoint and vehicles waiting in line at the Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan border. The truck also struck people standing near the checkpoint, according to Sputnik Kyrgyzstan.

Several light passenger cars were severely crushed in the incident.

According to Arzibek Borubekov, coordinator of health issues in the Batken region, 5 people have died at the scene, and another 2 succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital. There are no reported injuries among border guards.

An investigation has been launched to clarify the circumstances of the incident, and emergency service personnel are working at the site.
