Charges Filed Against Zhora Pap for Violence Against Police Officer

Georgi Arestakesyan, a participant in the three wars in Artsakh and known as Zhora Pap, has been charged with violence against one of the "red beret" police officers. This information was shared by lawyer Mikael Shkhimyan on his Facebook page.

It is noted that the violence reportedly occurred while the officer was lying on the ground on his back, and the injured officer was allegedly applying a maneuver that involved "squeezing the throat," as indicated by the lawyer. Shkhimyan also published a video accompanying the post, showing the events at that moment.

He emphasized that Arestakesyan's injuries have been documented by a forensic expert. "Zhora Pap filed a report regarding the crime, but charges were brought against him instead," the lawyer wrote.

It was previously reported that Georgi Arestakesyan was arrested on May 16 while participating in a peaceful car rally of the "Resistance" movement on his bicycle. Arestakesyan is a member of the Revolutionary Federation of Armenia's Ajapnyak committee and a retired senior lieutenant.

It is worth noting that around 90 opposition members arriving in Yerevan via car rallies were in police custody as of 1:00 PM on May 16. On that day, car rallies had begun early in the morning, starting at 8:00 AM from the main highways leading to Yerevan, including Ashtarak, Argavand, Artashat, Sevan, and Arinberd.
