Video: They Want to Show That They Are 'Cute' and Not Doing Anything Bad – Kocharian on Police and the President of Lithuania

Participants of the "Resistance" movement's act of disobedience blocked the Victory Bridge during the protest. Robert Kocharian's son, Levon Kocharian, who participated in the act, stated in an interview with reporters that there are police officers who provoke, although a change in police behavior is observed compared to previous days.

According to Levon Kocharian, this could be related to yesterday's meeting with the police chief.

“Moreover, since we have a visit from the President of Lithuania today, they probably want to show that they are cute, good, and are not doing anything bad, or that the President of Latvia is arriving in Armenia today,” he said.

Levon Kocharian spoke about the police's actions today. “Our compatriot who was waving a flag on top of the bus was almost taken away, but they couldn't manage to do that. Instead, they detained an innocent guy, probably for their own peace of mind. When we reached the Victory Bridge, vehicles with red berets arrived. One of them came out. It was the police officer who had violently squeezed the neck of one of our friends yesterday. He was behaving very cynically, as if to deliberately provoke someone to lose their temper and react violently. Of course, we will not allow ourselves to do such a thing. We asked him and also the authorities not to do that, as that red beret is stirring up tensions. They are probably trying to get us to initiate something, and then to claim that we crossed some line,” he noted.

According to L. Kocharian, during the past 3-4 years, there have been such disgraceful illegalities in Armenia that if all of this had happened under the previous authorities, “tsunamis would have arisen,” and the ambassadors and deputy ambassadors would not have left the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “There are double standards in the world, and we are not exempt from that,” he said.
