Mkhitar Galeyan's Father's Condition Stable to Severe, Attempted Interrogation Yesterday: Lawyer

The condition of Mkhitar Galeyan's father, Garik Galeyan, who lost his son during the 44-day war, is reported to be stable but severe, and he is currently in the hospital. This was stated by lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan during a conversation with journalists.

“Yesterday, an attempt was made to interrogate him, but he was not in a condition to provide a testimony,” he said.

It is worth noting that Garik Galeyan was arrested yesterday, but a decision was made to release him on bail later that evening.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee reported that, according to preliminary data, on May 17, 2022, around 14:05, a group of individuals improperly entered the territory of a military unit belonging to the Ministry of Defense of Armenia. During this time, they disobeyed the legal demand of the deputy commander of the military unit regarding leaving the area, verbally abused him, and physically assaulted him by hitting his face with a plastic bottle in connection with the performance of his official duties.

As a result of immediate measures taken during the investigation, the identities of three individuals who inflicted physical violence and severe injury on the representative of the authorities were established, including Garik and Arthur Galeyan, and citizen Azgush Martirosyan.

One of them, Garik Galeyan, has been arrested, and based on the evidence collected, he has been charged under paragraphs 1 of part 3 of Article 327.6, part 1 of Article 137.1, and part 1 of Article 316 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The prosecuting body has decided to arrest Arthur Galeyan, and that decision has been sent to the investigative body for execution. Necessary measures are being undertaken to locate him and present him to the preliminary investigation authorities.
