Armenian Advocacy Group Urges Biden to Recall US Ambassador from Armenia

The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) is calling on US President Joe Biden to recall Ambassador Lynne Tracy from Armenia.

The committee states that during her over three years in the diplomatic position, Tracy has recorded 'poor metrics,' including the absence of tangible aid for Artsakh refugees, favoritism towards certain Armenian political forces, further complications regarding Armenia's security and regional standing, as well as an inability to adequately respond to Azerbaijan’s illegal detention, mistreatment, and killing of Armenian prisoners of war.

'The Armenian cause wishes for every US ambassador in Armenia to succeed,' said ANCA President Raffi Hamparian.

According to him, Tracy has remained silent not only during the 44-day war but also afterward, particularly regarding the issues faced by displaced Artsakh Armenians and Azerbaijan’s continued encroachments on Armenia’s sovereign territory.

'Employees of the US diplomatic service, such as Ambassador Tracy, typically serve for about three years. Given that her tenure in Armenia has already exceeded this period, we call on the Biden administration to restore Armenian-American relations on solid ground by appointing a new ambassador in Yerevan. ANCA anticipates close cooperation with the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee to ensure the confirmation of a qualified candidate committed to US values,' the committee's statement said.
