UN Reports Total Casualties in Ukraine
Since the beginning of Russia's massive invasion of Ukraine, 3,752 civilians have been killed and 4,062 have been injured, according to the UN. Among the deceased, 250 are children.
The UN notes that the actual number of casualties is likely higher, as information from areas experiencing intense fighting is slow to reach authorities and much data still needs to be verified.
Specifically, in Mariupol, Izyum, and Popasna, where numerous civilians are reportedly affected, complete information on casualties is lacking.
The majority of reported deaths and injuries have resulted from long-range explosive weapons, including heavy artillery, missile strikes, as well as airstrikes, according to the UN.
