Video: Due to circumstances, we are creating a very dense road network in Syunik – Pashinyan
At today’s government meeting, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan presented a project proposing to allocate financial means within the framework of the state budget intended for the reconstruction of state significance roads in Armenia, specifically for the technical supervision of the construction works carried out in 2022.
It is planned to allocate 4 billion 750 million drams to the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure through redistribution. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that they are in the final phase of the 17.7 km section of the interstate road M2 Areni-Arpi-Yeghegnadzor, the 16.9 km section of the M2 interstate road Saravan-Saralanj, the 13.1 km section of the Vardavank-Khdra-Garak road, and the 5.9 km section of the M11 interstate road Martuni-Astghadzor, among several other road sections.
Pashinyan indicated that there is a significant volume of road renovations in Syunik province. The works have commenced and continue. Minister Gnel Sanosyan stated that the plan is to ensure that by the end of the year, drivers can travel from Noravan and Ltsen to Tatev.
“We will have a three-layer asphalt pavement in its final form, but at this point, we are discussing paving the entire section with a two-layer asphalt this year, which will be passable,” said the minister, indicating that the third layer will be reserved for next year.
According to Sanosyan, a new road will be constructed from the M2 Sisian section to Tatev. Syunik Governor Robert Ghukasyan added that road construction works are ongoing at a moderate pace, with specific issues in the Tatev-Aghvani section that will be resolved soon.
Nikol Pashinyan also mentioned that efforts should be made to resolve problems and improve the road's condition. “We will have a much better, much faster road. I believe it will be significant for the development of Syunik province. Now, due to circumstances, we are creating a very dense road network in Syunik, which is a very important investment,” said the Prime Minister.
