Russia is a 'Direct Threat to the World Order', Says European Commission President
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has labeled Russia as a "direct threat to the world order." She made this statement during a press conference at the EU-Japan summit in Tokyo.
According to her, the EU aims to play a more active role in the Indo-Pacific region. "We want to take on greater responsibility in a region that is very important for our prosperity," said von der Leyen.
She indicated that this theme relates to Russia, which is described as a "direct threat to the world order," particularly due to Moscow's alarming partnership with Beijing and the call for the two countries' "new and very arbitrary relationship." In her view, China should "intensify its efforts to protect the multilateral system from which it benefited during its country's development."
