The journalist for Al Jazeera, Shireen Abu Akleh, has died from wounds sustained during crossfire between Israeli security forces and Palestinians on the West Bank along the Jordan River.

According to their information, the 51-year-old journalist, who had covered the Middle Eastern conflict for several decades, was shot in the head on the morning of May 11. She was transported to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

It has been reported that Abu Akleh was wearing a helmet and a vest marked with 'Press'. Another journalist was injured and is currently hospitalized, with their condition described as stable.

Al Jazeera has reported, citing Palestinian authorities, that the journalist was shot by Israeli forces in the Jenin area. The channel's management and her colleagues expressed condolences to her family, highlighting her professionalism and resilience.

In turn, the spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces, Brigadier General Ran Kohav, stated to Israeli radio station Kan that he does not believe Israeli forces were responsible for shooting Abu Akleh, according to Interfax.
