Rafting in Debed River Suspended Indefinitely Due to High Danger Level
Rafting in Armenia, the service provider for rafting on the Debed River, announced on their Facebook page yesterday evening that rafting has been suspended indefinitely since May 7.
“Due to heavy rainfall, the high level of the Debed River has made rafting impossible as the danger level is high and it is inadvisable for beginners...” the statement read.
It is important to note that today it was revealed that during a filming session on the Debed River, Armine Jagharyan, a presenter from the Shant TV channel, fell into the water and died as a result of a rafting accident. The presenter was taken to the hospital unconscious, where her death was officially declared.
In response to a media outlet's question about whether the incident could be a result of an accident or intention, as the citizen was not alone in the boat, the Lori Regional Rescue Department stated that they could not provide an answer at this time; everything would become clear as a result of the investigation.
It should be noted that materials related to the incident are being prepared at the police station.
