In Armenia, there are currently 101 veterans of the Great Patriotic War living. The youngest among them is 96 years old, while the oldest is 101. In an interview with Armenpress, the president of the Armenian Veterans Union, Colonel Simon Esayan, stated that out of the 101 veterans, 11 are women.

Simon Esayan highlighted that this year, six veterans living in Armenia will celebrate their 100th birthday. “Currently, veterans are present both in Yerevan and in the regions,” he added.

Referring to the events on May 9, Esayan mentioned that on that day, the veterans will lay wreaths and flowers at the grave of the Unknown Soldier at Victory Park, participate in the military parade, and afterward, they will be hosted at the Russian Embassy in Armenia.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia also informed Armenpress that veterans of the Great Patriotic War receive honorariums, bonuses, and pensions from the state. “The honorarium provided to a specific group of citizens amounts to 100,000 drams per month. A total of 132 veterans are receiving this honorarium in Armenia. The amount of bonuses and pensions is not fixed,” noted the ministry.

The agency allocates 18 million drams annually to the Armenian Veterans Union, a public organization.
