Eight Turkish Citizens Kidnapped in Haiti

Eight Turkish Citizens Kidnapped in Haiti

Members of a criminal gang have kidnapped eight Turkish citizens in one of the suburbs of Haiti's capital. This was reported by the news portal ‘Haiti-24’.

The Turkish nationals were touring the area of Croix-des-Bouquets by bus from the Dominican Republic. This region is among the main zones of operation for gangs.

Following the kidnapping, Haitian authorities have already established contact with Ankara.

Meanwhile, UN agencies are reporting a deterioration in security and humanitarian conditions in Haiti. This situation has been attributed to the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse last summer. Immediately after this, an earthquake occurred, resulting in the deaths of more than 2,200 people.

Previously, it was reported that Haitian authorities had extradited the leader of the gang that kidnapped 17 American missionaries to the United States.
