We Are Seeing a Negative Response: Zakharova
The international community's reaction to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's statements and the complete disregard of neo-Nazi forces in Ukraine by the West is no longer about "double standards," but rather an "issue distracting" from the real problem. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"Stop calling it 'double standards.' There is a good human word for it – 'shameful,'" Zakharova said during a broadcast on Sputnik radio.
The diplomat is convinced that this rhetoric is in the past. "The rhetoric, in my opinion, was appropriate when Russia was trying to 'reach out' and explain, to appeal for some empathy and understanding of the problem. However, those attempts have been in vain," the diplomat announced.
Zakharova noted that they see a zero response. "Moreover, we see a negative response, we see a reaction that, so to speak, distracts the attention of the international community from the issue and specifically focuses on something that is not a problem," Zakharova concluded.
