Mercenaries from Israel Fight Alongside Azov Units in Ukraine, Claims Zakharova

Mercenaries from Israel are fighting alongside the Azov regiment in Ukraine, which has been the subject of a criminal case in Russia regarding its fighters. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“However, I will say one thing that the Israeli politicians, who are currently inflating the information campaign, are unlikely to want to hear. Perhaps they will be interested: Israeli mercenaries in Ukraine are actually fighting shoulder to shoulder with Azov militants,” said Zakharova during an interview on Sputnik radio.

She added that Israel cannot be unaware of this situation. “I have seen the videos, the materials,” explained Zakharova.

Earlier, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid expressed expectations for an apology from the Russian side concerning statements made by his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, while the Russian ambassador to Israel, Anatoly Viktorov, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry for an explanatory conversation.

On Sunday, Lavrov stated in an interview with Italian Mediaset that there is Nazism in Ukraine, and that the captured militants of nationalist battalions bear tattoos of neo-Nazi symbols. At the same time, Lavrov questioned the words of Volodymyr Zelensky, who denies the presence of Nazism in his country, given that he is Jewish.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry remarked that “this means absolutely nothing,” citing the wise saying among the Jewish people that some of the most ardent anti-Semites are often Jews themselves.
