«We Will Never Deviate from Our Chosen Path»: Beglaryan
In response to a number of inquiries, I would like to reiterate and remind everyone: the position of all branches of the Government of the Republic of Artsakh, all actors, and the entire population is unequivocal and unchangeable—that Artsakh can never be part of Azerbaijan in any way.
This was stated by the Prime Minister of Artsakh, Artak Beglaryan, on his Facebook page.
“Moreover, we are all ready for any short-term and long-term sacrifices and challenges, but we will never deviate from our chosen path. By the way, this position has always been presented to and continues to be communicated to all international actors, the authorities of the Republic of Armenia, and it is also made public. No one can allow themselves to deviate from that path, and anyone in the Armenian community who holds a different opinion must simply respect the will and right of the people of Artsakh to determine their own destiny in their own homeland.”
The right to self-determination of the indigenous people of Artsakh prevails over all other norms of international law and geopolitical interests. The principle of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity has no bearing on the right to self-determination, which, by the way, is also recognized by the well-known Madrid Principles established by the OSCE Minsk Group mediation, and therefore by the international community.
Additionally, the principle of the impossibility of living under Azerbaijani control in light of the consequences of genocidal policies and existential threats must be unequivocally recognized by the international community, as was done, for example, in the case of Kosovo.
Our chosen path is difficult and long, yet it is valuable and just, and no one has the right to betray the struggle of our sacred ancestors, fathers, and brothers, or to cast a stone on the fate of future generations,” he wrote.
