First Footage from the Ulianovsk Region Kindergarten: Children Among the Victims

Four people have died in a shooting at a kindergarten in Russia's Ulianovsk region. Initial footage has been released, revealing that early reports naming the shooter as 68-year-old Alexander Dronin were incorrect. According to Readovka, the attacker was 26-year-old Ruslan Akhtyamov, who had been registered at a psychiatric facility since 2013. He entered the kindergarten armed with an Izh-27 firearm during nap time.

Akhtyamov killed a caregiver and two children before taking his own life. The motive for the attack is still unknown. It has also been reported that there was no security staff present at the kindergarten.
