VIDEO: Vanetsyan Talks About Their Plans

The second phase of the opposition's actions, which started on April 25, will be more active, featuring marches and civil disobedience actions. This was stated by Arthur Vanetsyan, the president of the 'Homeland' party, during a press briefing with journalists at Liberty Square today.

"We are continuing our declared indefinite actions, we are back at Liberty Square, and we will be spending the night here again, but the second phase, which started on April 25, will be more active. There will be marches, and civil disobedience actions will take place," he said.

In response to a question about whether they are working with specialists to apply new methods since that method has been used once in Armenia, Vanetsyan replied: "We don't need specialists; we need to work with the people. We need to activate the public through our actions and bring them to the streets to make them demand change. That is the most important issue. The current environment in the country indicates that there is almost 100 percent consensus that this government has failed in all areas, especially the security system, which has completely collapsed, and the foundations of the state have been undermined. Therefore, we have a second issue - we must ensure that people do not become disillusioned, saying that this technology has been used once, and nothing will change anyway; rather, we must tell people not to lose hope," he stated.

According to Vanetsyan, people who do not agree with the current government have begun a march from Ijevan to Yerevan. These groups will increase, and he noted that initially, they will work with the public in a decentralized, networked manner, after which at some point, everyone needs to unite.

"I do not know when that will happen - in one day, five days, or ten days, but we do not have time, and we must act very quickly. The decentralized networked approach means that there will not be a prominent leader of this movement, and we will be able to clearly define what we want. If we say now that our leader is a certain person, we will have a problem because people might think we are here to demand someone be appointed to a position. But there is no such sentiment here; the sentiment today is one - to have a strong country, a respectful and dignified life for the people of Artsakh and Armenia. However, to achieve this main goal, as an intermediate measure, we need to achieve a change of power," he added.
