Soldiers Have Literally Disappeared. Abrahamyan on Soldiers Found on the Azerbaijani Side

The Azerbaijani border service announced yesterday that Armenian serviceman Edward Arthur Martirosov has come under their control. This was reported on Facebook by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the Armenian National Assembly's "I Have Honor" faction.

“The Armenian Ministry of Defense later confirmed that contact with the conscripted serviceman was lost on his way to a combat position on April 23. I will address this and similar incidents and their causes in the future. At the same time, I want to remind that during 2021, two servicemen literally disappeared from combat positions under unknown circumstances. These are conscripted serviceman Norik Mkrtchyan and contract serviceman Vahe Manukyan, regarding whom I even raised the issue in the National Assembly and maintained official correspondence with various organizations, yet there has been no news related to their fate,” he said.

The incident concerning N. Mkrtchyan occurred on May 18, 2021, while V. Manukyan’s incident took place on November 12 of the same year. The families of these servicemen have found themselves in an extremely difficult situation—socially and psychologically—yet the state's approach is highly disproportionate; people are left alone with their problems.

“Naturally, for those at the top of the power pyramid, it is completely irrelevant what heavy signals such incidents send to the public regarding the situation in the army. What matters to them is holding office, enjoying the benefits of power—let alone the enjoyment of flitting around with bodyguards and escort vehicles. The important thing is that power remains unshaken; otherwise, what soldier, what officer, what human being?”
